the stuff many pregnant women dont tell you.....

Saturday, I hit my 16th week! holy moly does time fly... thus far, i cannot say i've had a horrible experience being pregnant as i know many women do. First trimester is usually brutal and many say the energy picks up right around second trimester... well i am still waiting on that.. granted, im only a few weeks into my second trimester, but still..

now, what i truly feel like complaining about, since i really have had nothing to complain about this far in is Round Ligament Pain... no one tells you these things... or forgets to mention them anyway. Well, let me tell you, they are absolutely no fun. This, so far, has been the one down side of my pregnancy. (that and acne, but that i can deal with!) this however takes the cake. I am sure it is no where near as painful as labor will be but my goodness, i feel like a brittle old woman.

"Round ligament pain generally refers to a brief, sharp, stabbing pain or a longer-lasting dull ache that pregnant women commonly feel in the lower abdomen or groin, starting in the second trimester.

You may feel round ligament pain as a short jabbing sensation if you suddenly change position, such as when you're getting out of bed or out of a chair or when you cough, roll over in bed, or get out of the bathtub. You may feel it as a dull ache after a particularly active day — when you've been walking a lot or doing some other physical activity.

The round ligaments surround your uterus in your pelvis. As your uterus grows during pregnancy, the ligaments stretch and thicken to accommodate and support it. These changes can occasionally cause pain on one or both sides of your abdomen.

You may feel the pain starting from deep inside your groin, moving upward and outward on either side to the top of your hips. The pain is internal, but if you were to trace it on your skin, it would follow the bikini line on a very high-cut bathing suit."

Like I said, not fun! this has been occuring for about a week and i am hoping this subsides soon! i hear from some it only gets worse! eek!

epic fail....

I feel like an epic failure right now.. smh...

i purchased a fetal heart doppler on ebay a few weeks ago and have been religiously listening to my little one's heartbeat... or so i thought...

turns out, im a complete bone head and the heartbeat i was listening to was my own! EPIC FAIL! the only reason i found out it was mine and not the baby's is because i was lurking on a forum and came across a post where a girl asked why she couldnt find the heartbeat and the replies said that the heartbeat was found above the pubic bone and it was between 130-180 bpm... hmmm... i started scratching my head because i kept having readings of 98-100 bpm on the doppler... so i got out my trusty doppler and went to work! needless to say i found my little man at a healthy 168bpm!

sorry for the crappy quality, its a difficult to record and use the doppler simultaneously...

i feel a ton better now that i know where he is and how to find the heartbeat!

baby purchases

I am so thrilled that we have friends with kids and friends of friends with children. Instead of spending thousands of dollars on brand new items that our child will grow out of before we blink, we bought an amazing stroller set and car seat from some friends. The items are in IMPECCABLE condition. They look brand spankin' new! the crazy thing is, the woman we got it from, has incredibly expensive taste and shes a bit of a neatfreak which worked out in our favor. The stroller with a ton of accessories that we got plus an infant car seat cost us a little over $500.00... everything we bought was originally valued at $1,400. Not bad eh? we saved a ton of moola to spend on future baby necessities and the items we bought are so amazing! it was a little surreal to imagine that come november, there will be a little person occupying the empty little stroller! AHHHHHHHHH!

newborn/infant carrier later detaches

summer stroller attachment for older child and summer!
